A Look At Dabboo Ratnani's 2011 Calendar Photographs, Images

Dabboo Ratnani’s annual ritual — the unveiling of his calendar — takes place tomorrow (January 6th 2011). Dabboo Ratnani talks about his much awaited calendar for 2011. This is the Bollywood photographer’s 12th year of capturing tinsel town for his trademark almanac.

“ There is no particular theme for the calendar like last year which was entirely in black and white. This time I have kept it freestyle with lots of colour, unusual outdoor locations, natural light and high fashion,” explains the celebrity snapper. Full of life He adds, “ There is a flavour of Mumbai to it and the snapshots are full of life. There are hardcore bodies as well as sexy images. Each picture tells its own story and has its own theme.”

Priyanka Chopra on Dabboo Ratnani's 2011 Calendar - She’s lounging on the poolside on a deckchair but in a non-conventional manner. It’s all about her body language and attitude. There is a sensual feel to it as her curves are accentuated and it is overtly sexy but at the same time there is that laidback attitude that sets the mood of the picture.

Hrithik Roshan on Dabboo Ratnani's Calendar For 2011 - This is how we like to see Hrithik — all pumped up. He is extremely focused and dedicated — even during the shoot he kept on pumping himself up! It’s his body art.

Amitabh Bachchan on Dabboo Ratnani 2011 Calendar - The snapshot is all about contrasts. It has been taken on at a rustic roadside barber shop. But Big B is in full formal gear in his pinstriped suit with an iPad waiting for the barber to arrive.

Kajol From Dabboo Ratnani 2011 Calendar - I didn’t want her to look in any way we have seen her before. She normally sticks to casual wear and saris, but here she has turned out in a gown. The idea was to style her differently and show that she is equally in ease in jeans and top as well as in a black gown that has been designed by Manish Malhotra. Even her make-up done by Mickey Contractor, especially the eyes is distinct.

Though Dabboo interacts with the stars for their shoots for mags, films and portfolios throughout the year, they specially remove time for his date diary. The shoot provides the stars a platform to experiment with their looks and styling.

He begins works months in advance and though there are many takers, he is not tempted to sell the calendar — his work is only for private circulation especially among B- Town folk.

Monikangana will make her debut in the tinsel town with the Sanjay leela Bhansali “Guzaarish”. In a recent interview Monikangana said that she signed ‘Guzaarish” because it was a Sanjay leela Bhansali movie. The Model turned actress got a pleasant surprise when the filmmaker called her up himself, she jumped on to the wagon as soon as Guzaarish was offered to her.

Monikangana reveales that in the new film she is paired opposite superstar Hrithik Roshan and plays his love interest. The movie also touches upon the subject of Euthanasia. The film has Aishwarya Rai Bachchan playing a significant role.

Monikangana was pretty much content with her modeling career and never really wanted to switch over to tinsel town but “Guzaarish” changed everything. The model had to take acting classes to become fit for her role in the new movie and now she has discovered her hidden acting talent as well.

The beautiful actress also informs that although she has faced the camera gazillion of times before but on the first day of the “Guzaarish” she did feel a bit nervous. Monikangana Dutta plays the role of Estella in the new film and you will surely love her performance.

Here's Looking at Dabboo Ratnani's 2009 Calendar

B-Town photographer Dabboo Ratnani unveils his 2009 calendar today amidst the starry brigade. He is celebrating the 10th year of his work of art. To mark the decade, Dabboo has indulged in two things he has never done with the camera — shooting an actress in a sari and working with Sushmita Sen, who graces his calendar for the first time.

Who's in it

Apart from Sush, it features Akshay Kumar, Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Kangana Ranaut, Sushmita Sen, Sanjay Dutt, Kajol, Riteish Desh-mukh, Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan and Hrithik Roshan.

Mixed hues

"I have not restricted myself to any dramatic theme for 2009. Some are in black and white, some are in reds while the rest are in vivid colours," says Dabboo who begins work on his annual ritual in September every year. "Initially, I used to collect snaps of the stars I had shot and put them together for the calendar. But later, I began shooting them exclusively for it."

Kajol

Initially, it was supposed to be shot in a rundown garage. But when I saw Kajol in the gown and in keeping with her bindaas image, I put her on top of a cab. We shot for it on the streets of Oshiwara and despite the crowd, she was gung-ho. The concept is the morning after a party with the glass and her footwear carelessly thrown in.

Riteish Deshmukh

A Beatles-inspired black-and-white '60s look. I wanted to give the picture an extremely retro feel. In stead of having him strumming the guitar, I had him chucking it — just to make it look more cool. And check out Riteish's suit.

Deepika Padukone

This is the first time in all these years that I have shot an actress for the calendar in a sari. That is why the warrior queen/devi look with the sword in hand. The picture is sensual but has a lot of mood in it.

Sunjay Dutt

I had gone over to Sanjay's place to shoot him. But when I saw his Ferrari, I changed my mind. He had just bought it and as he is crazy about cars, it had to be him and his new pair of wheels.
