Kim Sharma gearing up to marry her hot Spanish boyfriend Carlos Marin and moving to Madrid, did indeed make for a beautiful picture but that’s now history. In a shocking turn of events, the actress called off her engagement. And now, she has tied the knot with a wealthy business tycoon from Kenya, Ali Punjani.

It seems that Kim Sharma and Ali Punjabi were dating for just a few weeks before they decided to tie the knot. The ceremony happened in Kenya, and only very close friends and relatives were invited.

The marriage ceremony was organised in Mombasa, Kenya, two weeks ago. A source says, “It’s a love marriage. The two were dating for a brief period. Kim felt that they should tie the knot quickly.”

Wonder if Carlos wants to comment on this. Earlier, Kim was in a relationship with cricketer Yuvraaj Singh for four years, which ended somewhere in the middle of 2007.

“The marriage ceremony was attended by close friends and relatives of Kim and Ali. Kim looked very happy,” adds the source.

Bollywood weddings are indeed quite strange. Take the guest lists for instance. A few days ago, we reported on Konkona Sen Sharma’s marriage with Ranvir Shorey, where nobody but Koel Purie was invited from Bollywood. How odd is that? Come to think of it, apparently, Kim’s best friend Preeti Jhangiani (the two actresses had made their Bollywood debut together in YRF’s Mohabattein) was not present at Kim’s wedding. Despite repeated attempts Kim remained unavailbale for comment.

Kim Sharma With Boyfriend Carlos Marin at Surily Goel’s IPL Fashion Launch

The ladies trooped into Tina Tahiliani Parikh’s Bandra store to check out their designer friend Surily Goel’s Spring/Summer 2010 collection. Pleasing pastels merged with a line inspired by an IPL team... Surily had lots of exciting designs on offer. Herself sporting a chic white shift dress, she welcomed her friends to an afternoon of fashion indulgence.

The stylish sirens were all there — Surily’s best buddies Renu Chainani and Nandita Mahtani; good friends Queenie, Sharmilla Khanna and Rhea Pillai; Poonam Bhagat, Laila Lamba, Penny Patel, Rita Dhody, Prerna Goel, Haseena Jethmalani, Maheep Kapoor, Deanne Pandey, Neelam Kothari... the ladies were on a shopping mission, it seemed! Kaajal Anand and Pinky Reddy were in a light-hearted mood, obviously enjoying the afternoon, while Kim Sharma flaunted her boyfriend Carlos Marin and introduced him to her friends. Ambika Hinduja made an appearance and Namrata Dutt Kumar and her daughter Sakshi made an even rarer appearance. Arpita Khan dropped in to do some shopping too. Coconut water coolers helped cool down the hot quotient in the store!

So is this serious for the hard-hitting batsman, who has been linked with various bollywood beauties in the past? For now the Punjabi bonding between the two looks serious going by the body language. Looks like the Bollywood connect is firmly to stay for the cricketer with a roving eye. After his long relationship with starlet Kim Sharma broke off, Yuvraj has been linked to a bevy of beauties, including Deepika Padukone. Nevertheless, the sultry model - best known for her ramp appearances and music video glimpses (her only claim to Bollywood fame has been a few-seconds appearance with Abhishek Bachchan in the title song of Bluffmaster) - better keep an eye on her man. For when she moved away, the compulsive ladies’ man, quickly was seen turning his attention to another woman (fan?), while showing off his moves on the dance floor.

For now, she can take heart that Yuvraj has declared her his ‘girlfriend’. For when our photographer tried to snap the two, Yuvi firmly rejected any move - ‘please don’t click us, she’s my girlfriend’. But wait, wasn’t he seeing Vivek Oberoi’s ex girlfriend, Grace, only recently?

Meanwhile, at a private party across town, the winning team’s owner Siddhartha, son of liqour baron Vijay Mallya, was again cozying up with actress Deepika Padukone. Actress Amrita Arora married Shakeel Ladak by Catholic rituals at Olive restaurant in Mumbai. Amrita was dressed up in an off-white vintage wedding gown designed by fashion designer Ashley Rebello. Ashley used Umelio Ungaro lace and satin for the high neck body-fitting gown, embellished with diamonds and rice pearls.
