Salman took off to Sri Lanka on June 23rd to shoot for his upcoming movie 'Ready' in the island.
Bollywood super star Salman Khan last week arrived in Sri Lanka to commence shooting the film Ready.
After attending the 11th IIFA awards in Sri lanka, the actor has started shooting for his upcoming movie 'Ready' in the island, despite the protest laid by South Indian film fraternity to boycott his upcoming movies in South.
Earlier, the film was supposed to be shot in beautiful locales of Mauritius, but after returning from IIFA weekend, Salman advised director Anees Bazmee to change the location to exotic seasides of Sri Lanka.
Heartfelt welcoming of the guests
During the IIFA award function, President Mahendra Rajapakse had told the Bollywood superstar that if he ever comes back and decides to shoot in Sri Lanka, he would be rendered the best possible facilities and security.
Salman was so impressed by the President's invitation that he convinced Bazmee to shoot in Sri Lanka for his film 'Ready', in which he co-stars with Asin.
Khan arrived in the country last week with a cast and crew of 140. Ghajini Star Asin, is to star opposite Khan in the movie. Asin had earlier starred alongside Khan in the movie London Dreams. The Sri Lankan government, as promised, welcomed the crew warmly and even provided a 'Z' category security to Salman Khan and Asin.
Salman Khan, who played a key role in the 'IIFA Hands for Humanity Project', as the Brand Ambassador for charity, thoroughly appreciated the kindness and generosity of the Sri Lankans and seems to be thrilled shooting in scenic locations of Kandy and in deep forest areas, never seen before in Bollywood movies.
According to the sources, the shooting started at Cinnamon Grand Hotel in Colombo on June 23. The crew is expected to stay in the island for over 40 days for the shoot.
The Ready crew has already identified several locations in Colombo and outskirts to shoot the movie. The location for shooting last Thursday (24) was Cinnamon Lakeside.
Khan made his entrance to the Lakeside hotel around 3.30 p.m. from the Taj Samudra Hotel where he is residing, flanked by four security personnel from the Ministerial Security Division (MSD).
Members of the crew directed him to the location site, which was by the pool and towards the Beira Lake. The area instantly attracted hundreds of fans including hotel staff, who stood gazing adoringly at Khan, who at ease, nonchalantly munched short eats as he worked.
Once the shooting got underway, The Sunday Leader sat down with Line Producer of Ready and head of Film Location Services (Pvt) Limited, veteran film maker Chandran Ratnam. Ratnam said that a cast and crew of 140 had arrived in the country to shoot Ready.
“After the IIFA, the Sri Lanka Tourist Board had invited him to shoot his new movie in Sri Lanka and since Salman had enjoyed the country, he had agreed to shift to Colombo from Mauritius,” Ratnam said.
He said that the 30-day shoot is to be carried out at Cinnamon Grand Hotel, Cinnamon Lakeside Hotel, Water’s Edge, Taj Exotica in Bentota (not confirmed yet) and another lakeside location, which is yet to be identified.
Talking about his lead actor, Anees Bazmee says, "Salman is so charged about the film (Ready) that at times he would just call me out of the blue and ask me to come on the sets of 'Dabangg'. We would have lengthy discussions there."
The film is remake of the successful 2008 Telugu film 'Ready'. Some of the other cast members of Ready are Manoj Pahwa, Anooradha Singh, Sharat Saxena, Manoj Joshi, Rajiv Kachroo, Mithilesh Chaturvedi, Eva Grover, Paresh Rawal, et al.
