The body of model-turned-actor Viveka Babajee (37) was discovered at her Bandra residence yesterday. PSI Sandesh Chakor of the Bandra police station confirmed the incident.

"A neighbour called the police station after smelling a gas leak from Babajee's apartment. The body was found hanging from a fan," he said.

The police had to break the door down as it was locked from inside. Babajee was living alone in the rented apartment since December.
The police suspect a failed relationship could be the reason behind the suicide.
Additional Commissioner of Police Amitab Gupta said, "We have recovered some documents from the apartment. An investigation is on."
Designer Anna Singh said, "I am really shocked. I spoke to her last week. We were supposed to do a show soon. In fact, she had called my office yesterday."
Babajee was director/proprietor of Vibgyor Entertainment, an event management company.

Mauritius-born Viveka Babajee's claim to fame was the famous KamaSutra condom ad campaign. She achieved fame with her Miss Mauritius 1993 title and represented her country in the Miss World pageant in Sun City, South Africa, the same year. She also acted in the 2002 movie Yeh Kaisi Mohabbat directed by Dinkar Kapoor.
