Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik wants to fly out of the country with his bride Sania Mirza and host another wedding reception in his native Sialkot in Pakistan, likely to be held on April 26, 2010.
Sania and Shoaib — or Shoania, as the couple have come to be called — are expected to leave for Pakistan late next week for a reception. Shoaib’s mother Sultana Malik said the reception date would be fixed after her son got his passport. She said India was a beautiful experience. Asked what would Sania’s welcome be like in Pakistan, she said: "You wait and see how we welcome our bahu."
On the day the couple held their wedding reception at a Hydrabad five-star hotel on 15th April, his lawyer moved the AP HC seeking return of his passport as well as the quashing of the case filed by his former wife Ayesha Siddiqui.
The police had taken the passport from Shoaib on April 5 as part of their investigations in the complaint from Ayesha alleging that he had married her and is refusing to accept the same now. After a compromise was struck between Shoaib and Ayesha, the latter had submitted a letter to the Hyderabad police withdrawing the charges. Moving the petition in the high court on Thursday, Shoaib through his lawyer narrated the sequence of events that took place since he landed in the city and stated that it makes no sense now to continue the case any more. “We settled the issue amicably and all the disputes are resolved now. Under these circumstances, holding back my passport is unnecessary and also illegal,” he said.
