Several B-Town folk have been invited (and left out) of the Sania-Shoaib Marriage reception guestlist. We bring you up to speed on the pals and the pariahs.
Imran and Naseema Mirza have extended invitations to several Bollywood folk for the marriage reception of their daughter Sania on April 15. The tennis star wed Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik yesterday. A source close to Salman Khan states that he and his entire family has received the invite card. While Shahid Kapoor has been kept out of the guest list - for reasons obvious (There were rumors sometime back that Shahid and Sania were a couple and were spotted at many places together).
Hockey bonds
Interestingly, one of the B-Town guests invited, is Raza Murad. The character actor and Sania's father go back a long way. When the Mirzas were staying in Mumbai before they relocated to Hyderabad, Raza and the tennis player's dad used to bond over hockey.
Confirms Raza, "Yes, I have received an invitation and I will be attending the event in Hyderabad. I have known Sania's father for years now. I used to often attend hockey matches at the BHA grounds at Churhgate. Imran was also a regular at the grounds. We struck up a friendship there."
Last month, Sania was at the opening of tennis player and coach Jaideep Mukherjee's tennis academy at Kolkata. Raza was also present at the event. "Both father and daughter had a long conversation with me. Of course, Sania was not too familiar with my work so her dad explained to her about my films and the voice-overs that I do."
Who's invited and who's not, who's going, who's not
Leander Paes has been invited but as he is away, his wife Rhea Pillai will attend. She has asked her buddy Kaajal Anand to be her 'plus one' and accompany her to Hyderabad. Kaajal, better known as 'Putlu' tweets, "I was invited by Rhea to be her plus one at the Sania marriage as Leander is out of town but already feel exhausted of shaadi!!"
Lara won't attend
Sania is extremely close to fellow tennis player Mahesh Bhupathi, but his flame Lara Dutta is not attending.
Cards for the entire Khan-daan
Salman Khan and his brothers Arbaaz and Sohail have received the cards. Says a source, "Sallu's entire family has been invited. Though they are in the midst of a hectic schedule of Dabaang, they are trying their best to make it. They have already spoken to Sania regarding their work related problem which might make them unable to attend and wished the couple a happy married life."
Shahid nahin?
B-Town buzz is that Shahid Kapoor has not been extended an invitation. The actor was linked to the tennis star two years ago. As reported 'I wish Sania all the best' (Hitlist, April 12), the actor preferred a no comment stance and preferred to simply state, "I wish her all the best." Guess the Mirzas would not like anyone to be on guestlist who would be a source of embarrassment to Sania. Remember ex-flame Akshay was not invited to Shilpa Shetty's wedding to Raj Kumdra.
