Artist Rouble Nagi Talks About Painting Katrina Kaif's Yuvvraaj Look

Artist and muralist Rouble Nagi talks about the second actress on her wishlist

"Katrina has transcended to a different level in Yuvvraaj. She is truly an artist's vision," beams well-known muralist-artist Rouble Nagi. The 28-year-old, whose clientele boasts of several Bollywood A-listers, social-ites, leading MNCs and hotels, has created a mural panel of Kat. The art work has found many admirers with the most ardent one being Salman Khan. In a quick chat with HiTLIST, Rouble speaks about her works, Salman and her muse, Kat.

The mural

Katrina seems to be an inspiration...

She is — especially her resplendent look in Yuvvraaj. Her character has such an aura to it. The mural takes a cue from the shot where Katrina is playing a cello with her eyes closed.

Did the panel need a lot of preparation?

I had to work doubly hard to do justice to her beauty. I just couldn't have gone wrong. The panel is a 3-D mixed media creation and is made of fibre, cold ceramic, fresco and stone.

Did you meet Kat before creating her image?
I have met her several times. She is an extremely warm person and is beautiful from the inside.

Did your friend Salman Khan coax you into creating the mural?
Salman is family. Our association goes beyond professional commitments. But making the murals was entirely my choice. In fact, the idea began on an informal note. Salman, Subhashji (Ghai) who is also a very dear friend, and I were discussing Yuvvraaj over a meal. I saw some photos from the film and it was then that we decided to go for the creations.

Salman, we hear, loves the murals.
(Smiles) Yes, he does. In fact, everyone has been complimenting the work. It is quite humbling.

Will the murals be up for auction?
Well, we are planning to do so. The proceeds will be donated to the Salman Khan Foundation. It is an honest cause and I don't see any better medium to make use of the auction money.

How do you rate Salman as an artist?
Salman's concepts are brilliant. His sense of detailing is amazing. He is very passionate and practises a lot. And his hard work shows.

Any advice for him?
I am senior to him when it comes to art but even with his experience, Salman is doing quality work. He should continue practising.

Does being Salman Khan's friend come easy?
If you're genuine, then being Salman's friend is the easiest job. The man will do anything for you only if you are true to him.

After Kat, who is your choice of muse?
I would love to make a portrait of Kareena (Kapoor). In fact, I can make both of Kareena and Katrina (laughs).

Interview of Amrit Maghera - Second Heroine of Subhash Ghai's Yuvvraaj

Amrit Maghera

Barry John's most famous student in Bollywood may be Shah Rukh Khan, but the acting guru has been regularly grooming aspirants for the big screen. His latest student in B-Town is Amrit Maghera, the second heroine of Subhash Ghai's Yuvvraaj. Barry describes the newbie as an attentive student. Let's see if she's any good as an actress…
For now here is an interview of hers.

'I’ve always wanted to be a part of this industry': Amrit Maghera, model/actor

Family ties
Twenty-five-year-old Amrit Maghera is debuting in Subhash Ghai’s much-anticipated film Yuvvraaj that also stars Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anil Kapoor in pivotal roles. She has grown up in UK and is the face of a big cosmetic brand in India.
“Dad’s English-Scot and my mum is an Indian. We are a big family, particularly on my mum’s side. I have grown up in England and my family has been very supportive of whatever I have done in my career. Without their support, I could not have left my country and come to India looking to work and be successful,” she informs.

Home away from home
“I don’t have any relatives in Mumbai. I have some in Pune and they care for me a lot. I keep talking to my family and after every 3-4 months, I go back to the UK. It has been an unbelievable and fascinating experience so far in Mumbai. I have got a lot from here. I became a successful model and now I’m moving on to acting,” she says, adding that she has worked very hard this past year.

Bollywood dreams
Amrit loves Bollywood films and their elaborate dance routines. “I’ve always wanted to be a part of this industry. But then people said why be just a dancer, why not try and become an actress in Bollywood? I’m currently working really hard towards it and I’m learning a lot every day,” she says.

Talking the talk
When we were chatting with Amrit, we couldn’t help but spot her accent. We just got curious and asked her that if she was fluent in Hindi now that she wants to be an actor in our
Hindi film industry. She says in correct and unaccented Hindi: “Mujhe Hindi theek se aati hai.
I’m taking Hindi lessons to read and write and perfect myself. As half my family is Indian, speaking is not a problem for me.”

Model dreams
So will modelling take a back seat if her film career takes off. “I want to do many things. Even if I become a successful actress, I will like posing for the cameras and walking the ramp.”

Subhash Ghai Had a Tough Time Convincing Salman Khan to Dye His Hair Blonde Yuvvraaj

Blonde Identity: Salman Khan in Yuvvraaj

Subhash Ghai wanted Salman Khan to dye his hair blonde for Yuvvraaj. But that was easier said than done

Subhash Ghai had a tough time convincing Salman Khan to dye his hair blonde for his film, Yuvvraaj. Ghai wanted Salman, who plays the title role, to look different than he usually is. So he thought upon various ideas to enhance Salman's personality in the film. According to a source, “Ghai was adamant on showcasing Salman in a different look in the film. So he tried several looks for him but failed to get what he wanted. Then suddenly, one day, a brainwave struck Ghai and he asked Salman to go blonde. Initially Salman laughed at the statement thinking that Ghai was joking but eventually when he realised that he was serious about it, he outright refused to do any such thing.”

Ghai confirmed the news and said, “I tried several looks on Salman's photograph with the help of a computer. But I realised that every look I devised, looked pale in comparison with his real life personality.”

Then how did the blonde look come about? Ghai revealed, “It just happened in Austria on the first day of the shoot. I was still toying with the idea of giving Salman a different look. I don't know whom I saw or what I remembered, but I suddenly told Salman that I want him to go blonde.” Salman was too shocked to react. Ghai added, “Salman did not like my idea. He refused. He saw my face fall.”

On the sets, Ghai had another shock waiting for him. Salman did not turn up for the shoot. Ghai recollected the day's happening and said, “I waited for two hours and since Salman did not turn up at the shoot, I suspected that he didn't like my idea and was upset about it. However, soon he walked in and my eyes popped out. He had coloured his hair blonde and was smiling at me.” Salman had dyed his hair blonde at his hotel and was looking just as Ghai had wanted him to. Ghai chuckled, “I guess Salman likes to give pleasant surprises. Yuvvraaj also stars Anil Kapoor, Zayed Khan and Katrina Kaif.

Impressed Katrina Kaif to Gife a Car to Yuvvraaj Cinematographer Kabir Lal

Gift car(a) de

Katrina Kaif is so impressed with cinematographer Kabir Lal’s work in Subhash Ghai’s forthcoming film Yuvvraaj that she is going to gift him a car

Katrina Kaif is all set to present a car to cinematographer Kabir Lal, who worked with her in Subhash Ghai’s forthcoming film Yuvvraaj.

But initially Katrina and Kabir had differences because while working in Anil Sharma’s Apne Katrina was not happy with Kabir’s work. Our source said, “When Katrina learnt that Ghai had Kabir in Yuvvraaj, she tried to reason with Ghai that she was not too happy with him. But Ghai stood his ground and Kabir continued working in the film. One day. Katrina said on the sets that if Kabir’s work pleased her she would gift him a car.”

Our source added, “Katrina was not too sure if things were going well in the initial stages, but slowly and surely the ice between them was broken and Katrina realised that Kabir’s work this time was indeed very impressive. Actually, Katrina has never been photographed as beautifully in the past as she has been in Yuvvraaj.” When contacted, Ghai confirmed and said, “Yes, Katrina met us recently. She has seen the promos and is very relaxed now. She made a special mention of Kabir Lal’s work to me.”

Ghai sees no reason why Katrina should not fulfill her promise. “Katrina had promised a car to Kabir. She is a girl who does not go back on her words. She is very magnanimous by nature.”

Kabir Lal told Mumbai Mirror, “Yes, Katrina did not like my work in Apne. Maybe she didn’t want me in Yuvvraaj. She was paranoid on the sets and constantly went to the monitor to check out things. But everything is fine now. Katrina is delighted. She had said that she’ll give me a car. She praised my work after the shooting of Yuvvraaj was over and the unit members teasingly reminded her that she should stick to her word and gift me a car. Let’s wait and see what car it is.”

Katrina remained unavailable for comment.
