She says, “ I am thrilled for my driver Shankar who’s become an entrepreneur. He’s got into the business of building vanity vans. While making the van he asked me for inputs and he made sure that it was exactly what I had in mind. I love the fact that it’s built keeping comfort in mind, rather than luxury. There are many things one can do apart from chilling and resting. I can watch movies in between shots, as there is a DVD player and a plasma TV in the living area.”

Recounts the b'day gal, "Though I love cars I am very simple where my tastes are concerned. Timmy decided to pamper me by gifting me a 7 series BMW. When I woke up in the morning, it was all packaged and ribboned in the driveway. I thought the car was for him and even remarked 'That's a nice car!' That's when Timmy told me it was for me. I was stunned!"


Koppikhar says that her birthday party started as a surprise but Timmy couldn't keep it up and kept asking her for her friends' numbers. "Finally I told him that I knew what he was up to and that I could help too."

She adds, "The party was at Narang House with over 200 people attending. The theme was gothic with a vampire overtone. I wore a vintage black dress with black beads and a cross while Timmy wore black lipstick.

We decorated the room with illuminated crosses, creepers, coffins, candles and blue lights while the dance floor was lit up with neon lights so when we flashed our teeth they looked green. I called it my 'spooktacular party!" Even the food and beverages were in sync with the theme."

Eesha concludes, "I cut down on films when I got married. I decided to take a sabbatical. I wanted to enjoy my marriage but now I am reading scripts and hearing narrations."

Katrina Kaif’s car reflects her love for the cartoon character as well as speaks tonnes for the state of mind she is currently in. The left rear seat is surrounded by small stickers of all that makes her happy…she calls it her ‘happy space’.

“When I was dubbing for Raajneeti, the little urchins on the road would recognise my car when it would stop at a particular signal and would insist I buy stickers from them,” she explains with a smile. Not only did she buy them, she decorated her happy space with them and now they are the source of a lot of joy for her.

For a girl who is feted every day and who can buy anything that money can, Katrina has obviously learnt that happiness and money have very little to do with each other.

Mumbai is witnessed its first ever Cyclothon today and Salman Khan was the star attraction of the event as thousands of supporters lined up to catch a glimpse of him.

Cycling professionals from around the world are took part in Salman Khan's Being Human - Tour De Mumbai. It's was held around the Bandra suburb and continued till noon.

The city's first ever Cyclothon, consisted of two cycling events: the BSA Hercules India Cyclothon and Salman Khan's Being Human - Tour De Mumbai. The former was a Cyclothon for everyone and the second was a race for cycling professionals from across the world.

Starry cyclothon

There were cycling professionals from across the world who took part in the event for a cause. It was Salman Khan’s Being Human-Tour De Human event to promote conservation of nonrenewable resources of energy like petrol and environment.

It was on January 19, 2010, that the ‘Wanted’ boy actor had signed on the joint venture between Sport 18. Sports 18 is a sports marketing division of the Network18 group and ID Sports – a sports management company had joined hands with TI Cycles and the Being Human – the Salman Khan Foundation.

That Salman Khan is a fitness freak is a known fact. Spending hours in the gym and often working out on his sets is not enough for this hot Khan. Many a times, the actor will take to cycling in the middle of the night to keep his fitness level high. The actor is known for often taking the cycling route to get to his sets at Film City in Goregaon from his home in Bandra. With his bodyguards following in his car, the actor makes his journey, often stopping to talk to his fans or sign autographs!

And now Sallu is asking you to join him. Backed by his Being Human Foundation, Salman Khan is now asking people all over the world to join him in India's first ever international cycling event - Mumbai Cyclothon.

“The Tour De Mumbai will be held at Bandra Reclamation on Sunday, 21st February. The whole reason Salman agreed to join this event is to promote the practice of cycling in the city. He wants everyone to get healthy, and this is his way of contributing,” says a close friend of the actor, “Salman is inviting all his fans – whether u are a cyclist or not!”

The ride will have participants from all walks of life, including amateur cyclists, cycling enthusiasts, working professionals, housewives and school children. The maximum distance covered will be 24 km. But we don’t think that will deter our superstar, who is used to cycling long distances.


The Mumbai Cyclothon — the Tour de Mumbai cycle race at Bandra Reclamation is promoted by Being Human — the Salman Khan Foundation, to encourage the practice of cycling in the city, he will participate himself “for quite a bit... but not the whole distance”. Riding besides amateur cyclists, enthusiasts, professionals, housewives and schoolchildren, lending muscle to the charity event, not to mention adding colour and festivity.

Salman is no stranger to cycling, this is something he’s been doing even while learning to walk, and now he owns several professional bikes that he uses to get around the city. Some are with 28 gears, some with 14, though he doesn’t use the gears so much. “Cycling gives me a kick,” he says recalling his BMX days as a boy when he would perform stunts, jumps and bunny-hops on the bike. “Anything that increases momentum is a high, besides which it’s a damn good form of cardio and the best way to prevent pollution. Everybody in the city can afford a cycle. Go on, get one, it keeps you fit, and in Mumbai’s peak hour traffic — you reach your destination faster. When I travel by car, I’m on the phone, but when I cycle to a shoot, I get my workout done on the journey, and my evening is free.”

People have often seen Salman cycling from his Galaxy Apartments residence in Bandra to location shoots at Film City in Goregaon. “It takes me around 54 minutes,” he says, “which is less than a cardio workout. And I cycle like the postman or a doodhwala, slowly, I don’t bhagao the bike.” He has advice for first-time cyclists. “The first three-four days, your butt will be sore, but that’s like in any other exercise. Don’t give up.”

He believes cycling helps people retain their youth for the longest while. “People past their youth, get it back once they get onto a bike,” he says. “For anything in life, if you have the enthusiasm and interest, there’s no way old age will get you.” And there’s one more thing cycling does for Salman Khan. It keeps him rooted and gives him a sense of being connected with life and reality. “In the future, if all that I have is gone, the cycle will still be there... so it’s best that I get used to it,” he smiles as he mounts his bike for a practice ride.

Trust the flamboyant Salman Khan to do something like this. Salman is known for being a fitness freak and his penchant for his bicycles is well known. The star usually cycles to his film's sets, he does so when he doesn't have to travel too far. However, on some occasions he is said to have cycled all the way from Bandra to Karjat.

The Gypsy is white and the actor has requested some modifications in it. The actor admits, "I bought the car a few days back. The Maruti Gypsy was the first car that my dad had booked but we never ended up buying it. Gypsy is like one of those crushes you have in school and it is always special."

Making it useful

John elaborates, "Although it is custom-made, it is built with utility in mind. Swapnil Nalavade helped me with the modifications and the final outcome is exactly what I desired."

He adds, "I took advice from friends and Hormazd Sorabjee (Editor of Autocar India Magazine) before buying the car. He recommended that I get the new Gypsy King as it is 'the' car.

My first love remains...

But the actor's first love remains bikes, "A biker will always remain a biker. Motorcycling is in my blood. I just rode my bike last night. Since the gypsy has just come in, I have been driving around in it. It is like going back to basics. I have always been more of a SUV person. The previous cars of mine included Prado, Tata Sierra, and now Audi Q7."

When told that most stars use his current choice of wheels for their bodyguards and security staff, he laughs, "I am the biggest security for myself."

Modifications made

24-year-old Swapnil Nalavade who made the changes desired by the actor in his new Gypsy says, "John wanted an open Gypsy: a roof-top and a two-seater. I fitted in bullbars at the back and removed the rear seat. I have fitted in racing seats, which are normally used in imported racing cars. The car has got fitted in huge alloy wheels and huge tyres. An extra hood has been attached for the rainy season."

What is a bullbar?
A bullbar is a device usually fitted to the front of a vehicle to protect the car from collison damage. They vary considerably in size, form and function, and are made from welded steel, aluminium tubing, moulded polycarbonate and polyethylene materials.

Jackie Shroff is a ghost rider. No, the star has not sold his soul to the devil, but is the proud owner of a skeleton bike that, unlike the bare machine used in the ionic Nicholas Cage movie, has an iridescent silver ribcage for the fuel tank and a skull head to live up to its name. And Jackie calls his galloping human skeleton the "baap of all bikes."

The star, who introduced Bollywood to the romance of the mean machine in his move Hero (1983) and to the boy-toy's adrenaline-pumping charm in Yudh (1985), has got the special two-wheeler designed to show people "what a real bike" is all about.
Priced at a whopping Rs 3 lakh, the 350-cc silver monster has been modified by Vardenchi, Mumbai's premium chopper shop.

"I love heavy bikes, but the sleek Hayabusas are not my style. I have been searching for the real bike for a long time. One day, while surfing the Internet I spotted a bike made of bones. I went to Vardenchi with the photograph and in three months they delivered this mind-boggling machine. It is the baap of all bikes in India," said Shroff.

Enthusiasts can watch Shroff riding the hot wheels in the opening scene of his upcoming movie Kirkit.

Arshad Warsi Buys Imported Luxury Cars for Wife Maria Goretti and Himself

Arshad Warsi has joined the ranks of Aamir Khan and John Abraham with his latest acquisiton — an Audi Q 7. He has also bought his wife Maria Goretti, a Volkswagen Beetle.

Shipping it home

Arshad says, "Maria loves the Beetle, especially in red. I had gone to London for the shoot of my home production and the first thing I did was picked up the car for her. I completed all the legal formalities and shipped it back to India. After I came back, I decided to buy a car for my self."

Service counts

Arshad is fond of sports cars but says, "India doesn't have the roads and the climate for a sports car. Initially, I decided to buy a Range Rover but ended up buying an Audi since the service can be taken care of in India itself."

The first car Warsi bought with his own money was a secondhand Maruti 800, "It cost me Rs 75000 and I paid it in installments. Although my first vehicle was a bike I won in a dance competition some 15 years back. Then the collection of cars followed with a Maruti Esteem, Opel Astra, Toyota Van, Yamaha bike." Arshad was very sentimental about the van as he took his then-girlfriend Maria for dates in that, "It was a very ordinary car but I had some amazing trips in that car with and without Maria. I had the car some ten years back when I got married and continue to have it till two years after my marriage."

For love of black

Most of Arshad's cars are black, including the new addition. Arshad prefers to be driven by a chauffeur rather than take the wheel himself, "It is only when I have a family outing that I drive myself." He remembers his first long drive with Maria after their wedding. "After our wedding, we didn't have much time to go for a long honeymoon and we somehow managed to squeeze in a few days and drove down to Mahabaleshwar, which was a terrible idea. From there, we then drove to Goa, being one of our longest drives."

The father of two claims he is no speed demon and has zero road rage, "I am in no hurry to reach anywhere any time. In fact, it is Maria who is impatient and abuses everyone on the road," he laughs.

Car customs

Arshad has a special car, in which he smokes. He makes sure his kids don't travel in that car.
He's a music freak and his car always has a huge variety of music, "It can be Hindi, lounge, Latin American; every kind of music is there in my car."

His car needs to smell good.

Arshad is a strict follower of rules. He says, "I don't break signals. I never drink and drive either. If at all I drink, I take my driver along or Maria drives us back. Not just after the law was passed, but from the very beginning. Maria and I have been particular about the same."

The Warsis always belt up. "Maria is also very particular about wearing seatbelts. The kids always sit at the back and are asked to wear their seat belts.

Car freak

Rohit has known the actor for the last 18 years. He was an assistant director in Devgan's debut film Phool Aur Kaante. He says, "Ajay is a car freak. He digs fast, stylish, sleek cars and loves driving. In Mumbai, he loves to drive his Swift while he drives himself to his Karjat farmhouse or even to Goa with his personal van following him. So this year, I decided to gift him a modified version of a Toyota Celica. The vehicle looks like a sleek racing car now. It was re-built and designed by VJ Rannvijay and my team. It took two and a half months to make."

Rohit states that he did not gift Devgan a new one because he wanted to give him something different. "Ajay has so many new cars. Earlier, he had a Maserati and Ferrari, now he has a Z-Class Mercedes and a Swift. There was no point in giving him a normal car as it wouldn't be of value to him. When I presented it to him last Sunday at Madh Island, where we were shooting for All The Best, he loved it!"

There is a twist to the tale. Laughs Rohit, "Though Ajay loved his gift, I loved the car more. In my film All The Best, Ajay's character modifies cars so we have plenty of vehicles in the film. But I liked Ajay's car so much that I told him he had to give it back to me to use for the shoot and since he's the producer, he had to agree!"

Rohit is known to blow up his cars in his films. Will he do the same here? "No. Though I intend blowing up 25 cars in All The Best, Ajay's car will remain safe. He has made me promise that not a scratch will come on it. He took me out for a drive on Monday but that was it. Ajay's become very possessive about his car."

When quizzed about the cost of the modification, Rohit says, "The bill is yet to come!"
Rohit also adds that Devgan's paperwork is in place for his modified car. When Vivek Oberoi had his car modified by Dilip Chabria, he had run into trouble. A modified car, according RTO records, is in violation of the Motor Vehicles Act 1988 because its body has been significantly changed and the engine tweaked.
