Amitabh Bachchan was accompanied by his entire family at the awards ceremony and it was indeed a moment to cherish for the actor when everyone present was up in standing ovation for the actor.

Dressed in a black bandhgala, Amitabh Bachchan collected his fourth National Award from President Pratibha Patil. Though actors from Bollywood’s younger generation were not present at the ceremony, the megastar’s entire family, wife Jaya, son Abhishek, daughter in law Aishwarya Rai and daughter Shweta, more than made for the absence. However, the whole of Bollywood did use the platform of Twitter and various media outlets to congratulate the actor on his achievement. While Abhishek Bachchan wrote that he was a proud father today as his ‘son’ had come home with a National Award, actress Shilpa Shetty said that an award is not enough to celebrate the great actor’s achievements.

Amitabh Bachchan, who received the National Award for R Balki’s “Paa” this year, was earlier honored with the same for his performances in “Black”, “Agneepath” and “Saat Hindustani”. Sharing the stage of the National Awards this year was son Abhishek Bachchan who received the award for the best producer.

He posted a blog on bigb.bigadda.com stating “A sense of great pride. The President of India presenting award for Best Actor for Paa.

Eyes moist as the audience give a standing ovation, which in formal functions is an abnormality. The president whispers to me ‘I have seen your film and loved it’.

I gave an embarrassed laugh.” He added “Thank you India for this national recognition.” The film also won an award for the Best Feature Film.

He further added “Felt a sense of pride and happiness to see Abhishek walk up to the president for his award as producer for Paa.”

Amitabh Bachchan Replaces SRK on KBC 4, Show To Begin 2010 End

It's official, and the superstar is thrilled to be back on the show 'Kaun Banega Crorepati'

"Sure, confident, lock kiya jaaye?" These words in Big B's resounding voice will be heard on TV once again with the megastar all set to return with the fourth season of the popular game show 'Kaun Banega Crorepati' (KBC).

"I am glad to be back with 'Kaun Banega Crorepati'. It is always a great pleasure to be associated with BIG Synergy," Amitabh said at a press conference for the show's official announcement today (July 7).

The show will air on Sony TV before the year ends.

Based on the British show 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?', KBC created history when it was first launched on Star Plus in 2000 with Amitabh as the host. He returned with the second season in 2005, after which superstar Shah Rukh Khan took over the baton in 2007.

Now, Big B is back to charm the audience.

"The language and the typical words that I used in the second season will be the same. There will be no changes in that regard," Amitabh said.

Channel officials, however, said there would be "many changes" in the format and process of the show, details of which would be divulged at a press conference later.

Said Ajit Thakur, business head of Sony TV: "The audition process will be more elaborate and this time the first 10 contestants will be chosen through an on-ground event where Amitabh-ji will engage in a video conference and ask questions."

The channel is confident that the audience will come back to see the show because they have "retained the three pillars of the show".

"The three pillars of 'KBC' are intact. The money - Rs.1 crore - is still a life changing amount for many common people, the knowledge on the show is still useful and of course, Amitabh Bachchan and his presence will always draw audiences. That's why people will still see 'KBC'," said Thakur.

The phone lines for the new season will open in August.

The launch of SMM Ausaja’s ‘Bollywood in Posters’, the first of its kind collection of posters of Bollywood movies compiled into a book, took place amidst swarming media attention with the legendary superstar Amitabh Bachchan himself unveiling the book.

The credit of putting together all the posters goes to film historian SMM Ausaja. “There were many posters, especially of the old films which I was not able to find. So, it took a lot of time but it was worth the wait”.

According to Amitabh Bachchan, posters are one of the most important mediums to market a film. “SMM Ausaja has taken upon himself a most tedious and worthy cause, that of the preservation of history in Hindi cinema. Posters have been an integral and the most important medium in the realm of information and marketing of films,” said the actor.

However, the megastar also mentioned a slight objection at the use of the word ‘Bollywood’ instead of Hindi Cinema in the title by saying, “The only thing I don’t like bout the book is the title but that’s a different story altogether.”

SMM Ausaja started collecting posters of Amitabh Bachchan’s films over 20 years ago, starting with his Kaalia. “It’s an honour for me, to have Mr Bachchan launch my book. He has been an inspiration for me.”

Speaking on the occasion, Ausaja said, “I’m happy and delighted to see my romance with Hindi Cinema unveiled so beautifully. I have worked very hard on this collection which has in all 5000 posters but since it was not possible to get them all in a book we decided to keep the number at 200.”

The book contains a unique collection of posters of Hindi films in the past 80 years along with their credits, popular songs and interesting anecdotes, with the oldest film poster in it being that of Alam Ara, India’s first talkie film dating back to 1931 and has been published by Om Books International, the publishing house which has previously launched books like Shah Rukh Khan by Mushtaq Sheikh and The name is Rajnikanth by Gayathri Sreekanth.

The title of the book is Bollywood in Posters. Along with the film posters, it will also have the credits, list of popular songs and interesting anecdotes.

Aamir Khan to Host Kaun Banega Crorepati 4?

Bollywood's Mr Perfectionist Aamir Khan is likely to host the fourth season of TV's most popular game show Kaun Banega Crorepati?, according to unconfirmed reports.

In the past superstars Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan have played hosts. While Big B hosted the first and second season, SRK took over the reigns from him for the third season.

If he does this show, it will be Aamir’s first ever appearance on TV, it should be a great hit with the viewers. And this is for the reason that Sony channel is ready to pay any cost to have Aamir Khan as host of KBC 4.

The Sources said that Aamir Khan has been approached by the Sony Pictures, which have the rights of the KBC, for the project. Negotiations are still ongoing in this regard. He would not have any objection to come on television to host the show. For the present, sources say that the only trouble seems to be the payment for the actor that will be settled with his satisfaction.

It is revealed that the perfectionist had initially discarded the offer because of its earlier alliance with Big B and SRK so it was not easy for Sony Pictures to get Aamir Khan in negotiating manner for the show. However, after much flattering and persuasion, Aamir agreed for negotiations.

If everything happens according to plan, Aamir Khan will be seen hosting the show and saying that unique line ‘Lock Kiya Jaye’ or something which may be his modernism for the same phrase.

Reports also suggest that Aamir, who is riding high on the success of 3 Idiots, is still undecided. Let's hope we get to see Aamir soon on the small screen soon.

Amar Singh Blasts Jaya Bachchan, Takes a Dig at Her and Says He Misses Her Too

Amar Singh and Jaya Bhaduri Bachchan are at War. Amar Singh hits out at her. So what is the Problem Between Jaya and Amar and what are they fighting for. Is the friendship over or is it just a misunderstanding?

Jaya Bhaduri (L2) and Amithab Bachchan (L3) with Amar Singh (R) in Happier Times

Amar Singh has ticked off former Samajwadi Party colleague and actor Jaya Bachchan over her remarks on his leaving the political outfit.

Jaya, the wife of Amar Singh’s ‘family friend’ and ‘brother’ superstar Amitabh Bachchan, earlier remarked that Singh “should have suffered a little” and stayed on in the party. His absence was felt, she said.

Expelled Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Amar Singh, in a rally in New Delhi, has lashed out in response and said that he too felt her absence by his side, having expected her to stand by him. According to a television channel, he has also asked why Amitabh didn’t choose to do the same when he decided to quit the Congress over Bofors allegations 25 years ago.

Amar Singh on Sunday took a dig at actress Jaya Bachchan, saying he too misses her as she did not support him when he was expelled from the party.

"Jaya bhabhi (sister-in-law) said she is in SP and Amar Singh brought her to the party. She said that his politics was my politics. Now, he is not there, I miss him very much," Amar Singh said here.

Jaya Bhadhuri

"Listen, Jayaji, I don't know where you are. I want to tell you that your brother-in-law was insulted. SP general secretary Mohan Singh said that Jaya Bachchan is just a showpiece and all film actors are just actors," he said.

"I want to tell you that Manoj Tiwari and Jaya Prada are with me. So I want to tell you that I am also missing you very much," Singh said, alluding to the fact that the two actors, who were part of the SP, came out in support of him. Both were expelled from the party for supporting Amar Singh.

Amar Singh was apparently hitting out at the actor-turned-politician as she on Friday denied that the SP was divided. But she had said that she "personally misses Amar Singh".

Jaya had also said she would think about whether to join him in any of his future political venture only after her term is over. Her term in the upper house of parliament will come to an end in July.

She defended party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav's controversial remarks on the women's reservation bill, saying he wanted a debate on the issue.

The SP chief last week said that the 33 percent reservation in parliament and state assemblies would lead to election of only women from elitist background, "at whom youth would whistle".

Amar Singh, who called superstar Amitabh Bachchan his elder brother and was seen together with the Bachchan family at all events, including family get-togethers and award functions, resigned from all posts of the party citing poor health in January. In his blog and interviews to media, however, he said the party did not treat him well.

He and Jaya Prada were expelled for "anti-party activities" a month later. It was speculated that Jaya Bachchan, whom he addresses as his sister-in-law, would also leave the party, but she did not.

Looks like the Bachchans, already reacting to son Abhishek’s posters being blacked out during the Earth Hour promotions in the Capital, have a new controversy on their hands in the form of a Figt with Amar Singh.

An upset Amitabh Bachchan is wondering why his actor son Abhishek Bachchan, who was appointed the World Wildlife Foundation (WWF) ambassador for Earth Day, was dropped from the function in New Delhi at the last minute. "Am I hallucinating, or is there a pattern in all this?", he asked in his blog.

"You are perhaps aware that Abhishek has been appointed the WWF (World Wildlife Foundation) ambassador for Earth Day, a campaign that has been initiated by WWF for the preservation of the earth. Many ads in the press have been announcing, with his photograph in place, that on the 27th of March let the entire country observe a simple ritual of putting off the electricity in their homes for an hour from 8.30 p.m. to 9.30 p.m," Big B posted on his blog.

"At the India Gate on Rajpath a ceremony is being held today (Saturday) to announce the campaign and to make people aware of this most noble cause.

"An audio visual has been prepared with Abhishek where he is seeking a pledge towards preservation of the Earth and requesting people to switch off their lights for an hour. The Chief Minister of Delhi, Mrs Shiela Dixit, and a prominent member of the ruling Congress Party, is attending the moment. A few hours before the show was to start apparently the audio visual featuring Abhishek has been asked to be removed and banner posters bearing his photograph as ambassador have been stopped from being. I wonder why??"

"Abhishek, who has been working so hard on the cause is obviously disappointed, especially since he had worked late into the night where he was shooting out of town to accommodate this creative. And I wonder. Am I hallucinating, or is there a pattern in all this?"

Big B was recently embroiled in a controversy when he attended the inauguration of the Bandra-Worli sea link's extension, leading to protests from some Congress leaders as he is the brand ambassador for Gujarat. Bachchan posted scanned copies of the official invite he received for the event on his blog, clarifying that he had been invited by a minister.

"I'm sorry if this post looks newspaperish ? but I just felt there were things that needed clarification. The Chief Minister of Maharashtra Mr. Ashok Chavan, who was to join me at the literary fest tomorrow in Pune, has changed his program and visited the venue this evening, a day before he was scheduled to. And Bala Saheb Thakeray has in a rare public announcement, stated that 'Amitabh Bachchan is a true Hindustani'."

Hrithik Roshan to Play Lord Ram in Father-in-Law Sanjay Khan’s Film, The Legend of Rama

RAM KATHA

Hrithik Roshan to play Ram in father-in-law Sanjay Khan’s film, The Legend of Rama

Sanjay Khan, producer of TV serial The Sword of Tipu Sultan (1989) is set to produce a film, The Legend of Rama, to be co-scripted by Sanjay Khan and UK based author Farrukh Dhondy.

According to sources, the cast includes Sanjay’s superstar son-in-law, Hrithik Roshan as Ram, Sanjay’s son Zayed as Laxman and Amitabh Bachchan as Dashrath.

Talking about this epic project, Zayed Khan says, “Yes, my father is indeed making the Ramayan. It’s called The Legend of Rama. He has been planning this film for the last three years and looking for a perfect to play Ram. And who but Hrithik could be the perfect choice for the role?” Apparently Amitabh Bachchan had agreed to play Dashrath, but that was two years ago. As for Zayed playing Laxman the young actor, who will be seen as the pampered younger brother in Subhash Ghai’s Yuvvraaj, chuckles, “Playing Laxman in one form or another is the story of my life.”

Dhondy, who is currently in Mumbai to give finishing touches to the script says, “It’s Ramayan in modern format and the script is ready. This means it will be the Ramayan in The Lord Of The Rings genre. The screenplay has the motion, motivation and movement of a Shakespearean play. When you do a Mahabharat, Ramayan or any other scripture the danger is, it just becomes - the Gods did this, Gods did that because the Gods can do anything they like. That’s why you are taught in writing school to never include Gods in your creativity. I’m trying to rationalise the ways of the Gods. Hrithik is the perfect Ram and Zayed the perfect Laxman.”

However, it is yet to be seen, who plays Sita and Ravan. Interestingly, Raj Kumar Santoshi had announced his version of Ramayan with Ajay Devgan, Kajol and Riteish Deshmukh as Rama, Sita and Laxman respectively. But the project was shelved. This year Ekta Kapoor’s ambitious TV serial, Mahabharat, was struggling to drum up the TRPs. Will Sanjay Khan is able to break the jinx on the epic sagas?
