Overseas Boxoffice Report of Golmaal 3 and Action Replayy

Action Replayy and Golmaal 3 Overseas Boxoffice Report/Collections Review: GOLMAAL 3 has fetched a fantastic start in key international markets due to its brand-value mainly. The film is excellent in U.K., U.S.A., Australia and Middle East. On the other hand, ACTION REPLAYY has had a tepid start.

U.K. BOX-OFFICE

GOLMAAL 3 has debuted at No. 12 position. In its opening weekend, the film has collected £ 2,59,611 [approx. Rs. 1.86 crores] on 54 screens, with the per screen average working out to £ 4,808. Note:- Incl. Thursday previews.

ACTION REPLAYY has debuted at No. 15 position. In its opening weekend, the film has collected £ 1,54,911 [approx. Rs. 1.11 crores] on 55 screens, with the per screen average working out to £ 2,817.

U.S.A. BOX-OFFICE

GOLMAAL 3 has debuted at No. 16 position. In its opening weekend, the film has collected $ 6,26,432 [approx. Rs. 2.78 crores] on 86 screens, with the per screen average working out to $ 7,284.

ACTION REPLAYY has debuted at No. 23 position. In its opening weekend, the film has collected approx. $ 3,00,000 [approx. Rs. 1.33 crores] on 100 screens, with the per screen average working out to $ 3,000.

AUSTRALIA BOX-OFFICE

GOLMAAL 3 has debuted at No. 10 position. In its opening weekend, the film has collected Aus. $ 1,84,610 [approx. Rs. 82.89 lacs] on 18 screens, with the per screen average working out to Aus. $ 10,256.

ACTION REPLAYY has debuted at No. 16 position. In its opening weekend, the film has collected Aus. $ 59,641 [approx. Rs. 26.78 lacs] on 16 screens, with the per screen average working out to Aus. $ 3,728.

NEW ZEALAND & FIJI BOX-OFFICE

ACTION REPLAYY: In its opening weekend, the film has collected NZ $ 32,152 [approx. Rs. 11.26 lacs] on 6 screens, with the per screen average working out to NZ $ 5,359. Thye breakup:- Fiji 15,013 on 2 screens; New Zealand 17,139 on 4 screens.

Monday Box Office Update: Action Replay Flops Badly

Action Replayy has flopped with very bad box office collections on Monday. Action Replayy was very poor on Monday with 2.25 crore nett business. The total so far in four days is about 17.25 crore nett and the week is looking to finish around 22 crore nett. The lifetime business of the film will struggle to hit the 30 crore nett mark. If we compare with Friday the drop is not huge but Friday business was too low with just 2.75 crore. Action Replayy will be one of Akshay Kumar's biggest Flops.


It has been seen over the last 18 months that Akshay Kumar films like Kambakkht Ishq, Blue, De Dana Dan and Khatta Meetha all dropped from Monday as content was not up to the mark but still all put up reasonable lifetime numbers due to the star power of Akshay Kumar as the openings were strong.

This time the opening was not there and the content also failed which will mean the film may do only 15-16 crore lifetime distributor share. The jump on Saturday was due to the Diwali holiday as collections fell Sunday and then fell even more on Monday. A more audience friendly Akshay Kumar in the film would have resulted in a better opening and even then the film may have failed later due to content but it would have made added 50% to the final distributor share.

Action Replayy First Weekend Box Office Collections Report

Action Replayy had a poor first weekend at the Box office with around 15 crore nett collections. On the opening day, friday the film made business of 2.75 crore, it flattered on Saturday with collections of 8 Crores rupees, but it was due to the holiday as collections fell again on Sunday to about 4.15 crore. The weekend breakdown was as follows.

Action Replayy is a romantic comedy, directed by Vipul Shah. Vipul Shah has stated that the film is based on a Gujarati play called Action Replay. Earlier, it was being said that it is an adaptation of Hollywood film “The curious case of Benjamin Button”.


The movie Action replayy could clash with Rohit Shetty’s film Golmaal 3 because both the movies will be released during Diwali festival.

Akshay Kumar and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan have earlier worked together in “Khakee”. The story of “Action Replayy” is based on a 1994 Gujarati Indian play titled the same.

This time travel comedy is based on Mumbai, the Mumbai of the 50’s. “Action Replay” is a Hindi adaptation of Hollywood film “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button”. starring Brad Pitt. Randhir Kapoor plays a vital role in the film.

It shows how an elderly man travels backwards (Action Replay as the title suggests) to the 70’s when he was a young handsome man. The music of the film has been composed by music director Pritam Chakraborty under T-Series.

Not many will know that the film which is based on Vipul Shah's very own Gujarati play (of the same name), would have been his debut movie but things did not work out and instead it was with AANKHEN that Vipul opened his Bollywood account. ACTION REPLAYY is about son trying to re-ignite the dying romance in the lives of his parents, who are at loggerheads. In doing so his parents are transported back in time.

Bollywood stars Akshay Kumar Aishwarya Rai Bachchan were spotted the airport in Manali. They are there to shoot for their upcoming film Action Replayy.

Accompanied by her mother, Aishwarya drove straight to the hotel Holiday Inn, where she will stay for a week while shooting the film .


According to sources, Aishwarya and Akshay will shoot a retro-themed song and will stay for another four-five days.

From this first look poster/promo of Vipul Shah's forthcoming film Action Replayy, Akshay Kumar and Aishwarya Rai seem to be having a ball - that too clad in cool retro garb. The film, which involves a certain theory of time travel, has the actors sporting a retro 70's look.

A sneak peek at Aishwarya and Akshay in a total retro look mounted on the once famous Lambretta Vespa scooter with hearts. Heightening the 80's look is the entire flower power print dress Ash dons, while Akki does his bit wearing a blush pink floral print shirt topped off with checked bell bottoms, quite the rage then.

"It is a fun-genre romantic film," Aishwarya says.

Her good-looking co-star, Akshay agrees. He adds, "It's a very special film for me for many reasons. This is my tribute to the 70s that was the greatest retro era.

"I was kicked with the idea because I'm entering the time in cinema where my father-in-law (Rajesh Khanna) was a superstar. It is my fifth film with Vipul and definitely another one to remember.

"Ash and I had a brief romantic interlude in Raj Kumar Santoshi's Khakee, but Action Replayy is our first romantic comedy together. Believe me, I was blushing through the making and there's a lot I wish to tell my audience about. But Vipul wants me to keep things under wraps for the moment."

Without giving away too much, one can safely say that Action Replayy is all about rewinding your life. It is about Kishen and Mala - two bickering senior citizens who "rediscover romance'' on their 33rd wedding anniversary, when their son gets them into rew mode.

Vipul Shah says, "Akki and I have an impeccable box office record. We enjoyed success with Ankhein, Waqt -- Race Again Namastey London and Singh is Kinng. Action Replayy is a film where the two of us return after a gap of almost three years. And believe me, it is a great way to return."

He says that the film is very hip and caters to the sensibilities of the young generation. "For me it was an exciting experience because I could bring together Aishwarya and Akshay, a pair I had been wanting to cast for sometime now. They're both goodlooking, super-talented and what's more, they're fashion icons as well. Akki has made an amazing screen pair with some of the existing girls but believe me, he and Ash are extra special,'' adds Vipul.

Aishwarya Rai and Akshay Kumar’s movie ‘Action Replayy’ has a time-travel theme, and looks like director Vipul Shah is determined to add more and more elements from the 70s to it.

Following news that one of Akshay’s dance numbers in the film will instantly remind the audience of John Travolta in the 1977 hit Saturday Night Fever, the latest buzz around the film is a special song based on the romance between some of the most popular Bollywood jodis of the 1970s.

The song, to be shot at the end of this month in Manali, will have Akshay and Aishwarya teasing each other, vintage style.

A source said, “This is Akshay’s biggest release before Tees Maar Khan and director-producer Vipul Shah wants the film to touch everybody’s heart. The song is a tribute to the leading Bollywood couples of the 1970s and will highlight their romance.

The five couples whom Akshay and Aishwarya will pay a tribute to in the five-minute song will be Amitabh - Jaya Bachchan, Rishi Kapoor - Neetu Singh, Dharmendra - Hema Malini, Shashi Kapoor - Parveen, and Rajesh Khanna - Mumtaz.”

The song, composed by Pritam, has lyrics which go: Nakhre nakhre nakhre, nakhre hain naatak re, nakhre nakhre nakhre tu peeche hi rakh re. “Since the film has a retro feel, Akshay and Aishwarya will be dressed just like these legendary couples did in their films. The unit is currently planning how to choreograph the song,” added the source.

Vipul Shah confirmed the news and said, “This song, which will be shot in Manali, starts in a playful manner and then goes on to salute the stylish romance that was a trademark of the 1970s.”

Apparently, the song will be in the typical 70s style, and have a mischievous tone to it. Well, it’s got Aishwarya paying tribute to her in-laws, Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan. Now if only she were shooting with hubby Abhishek Bachchan, the tribute would have been complete!
