Kareena Kapoor at ‘3 Idiots’ Book Launch Party, Screenplay of Three Idiots Released

After the roaring success of 3 Idiots, Vinod Chopra Films launched a book on the original screenplay of the film at a popular bookstore at Lower Parel last evening (June 7th 2010).

The cast and crew of last year's blockbuster hit 3 Idiots - actor Sharman Joshi, producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Kareena Kapoor and director Rajkumar Hirani read from the book The Original Screenplay, which was launched in Mumbai on Monday. Lead actor Aamir Khan wasn't present.

The book comprises the screenplay of Three Idiots and every behind-the-scene happenings during the shooting of the Film 3-Idiots.

Though lead actor Aamir Khan wasn't present, lead actress Kareena Kapoor attended the event with producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra and director Rajkumar Hirani.

Hirani spoke about there being a record of even the smallest detail of Hollywood classics, including stills and script.

He went on to say that this book is a step towards Bollywood keeping track of its films, which would benefit the future generation.

'3 Idiots’ Tops Nominations For IIFA Awards 2010

Vidhu Vinodh Chopra’s Three Idiots is slated for a major victory at the forthcoming International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards ceremony due to be held at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium in Colombo from June 3 to 5.


The rollicking comedy, which has created box office history of all times for a Bollywood movie with a collection in excess of $US 100 million (and still counting), has been nominated in 12 out of 13 categories of the prestigious awards.

The film has already taken eight of the 12 technical awards declared last week. ‘Aladin’ and ‘Love Aaj Kal’ picked up two awards each.

The event, officially titled, Videocon IIFA Weekend and Micromax IIFA Awards, has evinced worldwide interest with Ireland expressing an interest to host it in the near future. The Awards ceremony is held in a different country every year to give it an international favour and claim Bollywood as an inclusive industry.

PricewaterhouseCoopers, the world’s largest audit firm, is the official auditor for IIFA (and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, which runs the Oscar Awards). People’s vote is a major factor in determining the winner and online submissions, which began on May 10, will conclude on June 1.

Sabbas Joseph, Director of Wizcraft, a global event management company that manages IIFA, said the best of Indian cinema will come alive in Sri Lanka.

“The nominees for the Micromax IIFA Awards 2010 are a compilation of the best work from the previous year and the suspense and celebration of these worthy nominations will undoubtedly create another magical IIFA,” he said.

Hemant Parkeh is a Radio Tarana Presenter and Sales Executive. Apart from being on honeymoon with his bride Rozeena (see separate story in Communitylink), he will represent the radio station and Indian Newslink at IIFA 2010 in Colombo.

Mona Singh To Play Kareena Kapoor's Sister in 3 Idiots

Mona Singh has joined the ranks of other TV actors making their filmi debut. The actress recently shot for Raju Hirani's 3 Idiots where she plays Kareena Kapoor's sister. Mona says, "I couldn't have asked for a better launch. I was doing a show in 2007 in New York where I met Raju for the first time. He mentioned that he was writing a script with a role keeping me in mind. Exactly a year later, I got a call that I was cast in 3 Idiots." The actress was initially supposed to make her launch in a Bobby Pushkarna film that never took off. Mona will join the cast for the Mumbai schedule in January 2009.
