Suresh Oberoi, Vivek’s father, expressed his happiness by saying that he now had two daughters.

“I am feeling happy, I got one daughter married and I am getting another daughter. So, I have two daughters,” said Suresh Oberoi.

Several Bollywood celebrities attended the reception party. Among those present at the party were Bollwood celebrities like Ritesh Deshmukh, Genelia D’Souza, Gulshan Grover, Raza Murad, Bollywood film director and choreographer, Farah Khan and Bollywood Director Sajid Khan.

Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Lal Krishna Advani, and Congress spokesperson Digvijay Singh were also present.

Bollywood film director and choreographer Farah Khan said Vivek has got a beautiful wife.

“I want to tell Vivek he’s done a really good thing. Marriage is wonderful, and I think, his wife is really beautiful,” said Khan.

Vivek Oberoi is the son of Punjabi Khatri actor Suresh Oberoi and Tamilian Yashodhara. He completed his studies at Mayo College in Ajmer and can speak a variety of languages like Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Gujarati and Marathi while Priyanka is daughter of classical dancer Nandini and late Karnataka Janata Dal-United leader Jeevraj Alva, who passed away in 2001. She completed her Business Management Graduation from London, Britain. Vivek Oberoi met Priyanka Alva on the advice of his parents, so it can said that an arranged marriage.

Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi married Priyanka Alva, daughter of late Karnataka political leader Jeevraj Alva, on Friday. The 28-year-old Priyanka is a business management graduate from UK. Her mother Nandini is a well known classical dancer.

The wedding, both in Karnataka and Punjabi style, took place at the sprawling farm house of the Alvas in north Bangalore.The Oberois will host a reception in Mumbai Sunday.

Bollywood star Vivek Oberoi tied the knot with management graduate Priyanka Alva at a resplendent ceremony in Bengaluru marked by razzmatazz of the Hindi tinsel world.

In the wedding, which saw a touch of traditional Punjabi exuberance and cultural beauty of coastal Karnataka, 34-year old Oberoi exchanged garlands with Priyanka, the daughter of former Karnataka minister late Jeevaraj Alva and reputed dancer Nandini Alva, at a late night ceremony.

Vivek Oberoi's Wedding Sangeeth Concert/Ceremony on 27th October 2010, Wednesday. A music ceremony set the celebrations rolling for Bollywood star Vivek Oberoi and Priyanka Alva's marriage that is to take place on Friday (Oct 29th) at a sprawling farmhouse on the outskirts of the city.

The couple invoked the blessings of the Almighty amid chanting of verses from the holy scriptures, solemnising the matrimony between the two.

The day was marked by a series of rituals, in keeping with the typical Indian tradition, sources close to the family said. The wedding day commenced with prayers to bless the couple, followed by a haldi ceremony.

"The haldi ceremony began the with smearing of vermilion on Priyanka as it is considered to be auspicious," said one of the guests.

The wedding, which also had some elements of coastal Karnataka, was attended by over 2,000 guests, drawn from the art and theatre circles as well as those from the film industry and other associated fields.

The bride, a management graduate from London, sported various sets of apparel for the ceremonies, including a lehenga with heavy intricate gold works, set off by heirloom jewellery comprising rubies.

"The wedding mandap was covered with around 2,000 Swaroski crystals. Around 700 lotuses were flown from Thailand to fill the pool on the premises. The entire theme was very Indian," said one of the guests.

"Priyanka gifted Vivek a sword covered with a special sheath embellished with stones. As per the tradition, Vivek was required to carry a sword," a source close to the family said.

Vivek wore a rich regal bearing as he sported the sword at the wedding.

The duo wore designer Tarun Tahiliani's creations. A rich wedding feast comprising a fusion of north and south and international cuisines accompanied by variety of desserts marked the celebrations.

A reception would be held in Mumbai on October 31.
