Walking the ramp for designer Neeta Lulla as the showstopper, actor Sridevi stumbled not once or twice but three times. Sridevi sported a silver grey body fitting gown. Unlike the thunderous applause that most of the other shows have been receiving, Neeta’s show generated a lukewarm response, on Day 5 at LFW.

Even as the Bollywood brigade including Akshay Kumar, Vipul Shah, Rannvijay, Tabu, Hema Malini, Ameesha Patel and Juhi Chawla looked on, from the front row, Sridevi appeared quite uncomfortable in her silver outfit that had a long train trailing behind it. And when Neeta came to take the final bow with the showstopper, she had a firm hand at Sri’s elbow to aid her to walk the entire length of the ramp again. Kudos to the actor for appearing more confident this time!

Speaking about her experience, Sridevi said, ‘It was great but at the same time very hard for me’. Designer Neeta Lulla was elated to have Sridevi flaunting her exotic collection, ‘It was fantastic that on my 25th anniversary Sridevi walked the ramp and so many people actually made it to the show.’

When asked about the actress’ nervousness, Neeta Lulla clarified: ‘As far as I think, it happens some times when you walk the ramp after a long time.’

Also Present at the event were celebrities like Rani Mukherji, Hema Malini, Yash Chopra, Mugdha Godse, Tabu, Juhi Chawla and Amisha Patel, among others.

Salman Khan To Play Villain Mogambo In 3D Sequal‎ to Mr India (Version 2)

Salman Khan, the macho super star of bollywood who never played the part of a villain in his acting career, is all set to step into the shoes of Amrish Puri with his famous tagline ‘Mogambo Khush Hua’ in upcoming Rs 100 crore sequel to blockbuster ‘Mr. India’ being made by Boney Kapoor.


Salman Khan is expected to recreate the magic of Mogambo with use of finest SFX artists from Hollywood and enacting his role in 3 D format. Taking his inspiration from James Cameron’s blockbuster ‘Avatar’, which was in 3D, Boney Kapoor wants to make this flick even greater hit at the box office than his earlier ‘Wanted’ was at the box office.

Besides Salman Khan, the film will also have Anil Kapoor and Sridevi continuing with their parts in the sequel. The film will also have a known pair of bollywood actors to add glamour for youngsters and gen X, who were not privy to original ‘Mr. India’. Presently, the script is being finalized by two writers and one of these two will be chosen by producer Boney Kapoor. And since SFX movies are a rage nowadays, Boney too is in no mood to compromise and is planning to make the sequel in 3D.

“I want to take this film to the highest level. 3D would be a terrific experience with this kind of subject. We were toying with the idea for a long time, but finalized things only a few days ago,” Boney tells a daily.

He also discloses that the film’s budget is expected to be of almost Rs 100 crore as the film will be techno savvy and will also use state-of-the-art technology. Not only that, Boney is planning to call some foreign technicians for Salman’s look in the flick. It is not less than a challenge to show the hero of the masses, Salman, in a negative role.

Right now, the film is without a director and the script is being given final touches. It is only after that will go for a director to helm the ambitious project. It is unlikely that Shekhar Kapur, who had directed the first part, will agree to this project and most probably someone else will have to be selected by Boney to do the job.

Shah Rukh Khan To Play Mogambo in Mr. India 2 ?

If all goes well, Shah Rukh Khan will return to his bad boy image, which catapulted him to success. Shah Rukh has been offered the role of the famous villain Mogambo in Shekhar Kapur's Mr India 2. The film is a sequel to the 1987 hit Mr India starring Anil Kapoor and Sridevi and will be produced by Manmohan Shetty and Boney Kapoor.

Apparently, Shekhar, who is good friends with Shah Rukh made this offer to SRK recently. Whether Shah Rukh has given his nod of consent is not known. But Shekhar, who is in charge of the creative departement of the film, is very keen that Shah Rukh accepts his offer. Till now, Shekhar has been very discreet about it. SRK too is expected to keep a low profile about the role until he agrees to take up the challenge. A source close to Shekhar said, “Shekhar is not making Paani now. So all his energies are now focussed towards getting the casting of Mr India 2 right.”
But why SRK? Our source explained, “This film will also star Anil Kapoor and Sridevi as in the original but the script has been turned to be make it more villain centric. Today, there are very few villains who have the towering personality required for the Mogambo type of role, which was played with flourish by the late Amrish Puri in the original. And who better than Shah Rukh, who has excelled in negative roles like Baazigar and Darr, to play the role?”

Apparently, K K Menon was the earlier choice and was also in talks with the makers. However, with the script now being turned around to be villain-centric, it was the need of the hour to rope in a big star for the role.

The source added, “It will be the role of a lifetime for Shah Rukh. There will tremendous curiosity about how he enacts it. Yes, the film Mr India is a big name by itself but people will flock to the theatres more because Shah Rukh is getting into the shoes of Amrish Puri than for the film itself.”

So who will direct the film? Could it be Shekhar now that Paani is on the backburner? Our source said, “That is a decision which has still not been taken. Shekhar is keen that Anurag Basu should take on the mantle but Anurag is busy with Kites till March and Shekhar wants to begin Mr India 2 before that.”

When contacted about SRK doing Mogambo's role, Boney said, “Mr India is a brand which has to be nurtured. The recall value of this film is high. So who wouldn't want the best of everything? Whatever Shekhar is doing (read: casting), he is doing entirely on his own.”

We checked with Manmohan Shetty about the details. He claimed that he didn't know that Shah Rukh was the first choice for Mogambo. Manmohan said, “The casting of Mr India 2 is entirely Shekhar's domain.” Despite repeated calls and a text message, Shekhar did not revert.
