IIFA Awards 2010 List of Winners, Winners List

Aamir Khan-starrer 3 Idiots swept this year's IIFA awards bagging 8 honours including the Best Film award, with megastar Amitabh Bachchan winning the Best Actor award for his role as a progeria-afflicted child in Paa.

The Best Actress award was shared jointly by Vidya Balan for Paa and Kareena Kapoor for 3 Idiots.

The Best Director trophy went to Rajkumar Hirani for 3 Idiots, while he along with Abhijat Joshi, Vidhu Vinod Chopra won the Best Story award for the same film.

The film, a coming-of-age comedy about three students at a top engineering college, had been nominated in 12 of the 13 main categories in the 11th Indian International Film Academy (IIFA) awards.

It has already won eight of the 12 technical awards, including Best Screenplay and Best Cinematography.

Sharman Joshi won the Best Male Supporting Actor award for his role in 3 Idiots, while Divya Dutta received the Best Female Supporting Actress award for her performance in Dilli 6.

3 idiots won another award with Boman Irani clinching the statuette for his negative role in the film.

Sanjay Dutt laughed all the way to bag the award for best performance in a comic role in All the Best.

Composer Pritam pipped maestro A R Rahman to win the Best Music Director award for Love Aaj Kal while Shaan was adjudged the Best Singer (Male) for Behti hawa sa tha woh (3 Idiots). Kavita Seth won the Best Singer (Female) for Iktara in Wake Up, Sid!.

Swanand Kirkire won the Best Lyrics award for 3 Idiots.

Sri Lankan beauty Jacqueline Fernandez jointly won the Best Debut Female Actor along with Mahie Gill for their role in Aladin and Dev D, respectively.

Omi Vaidya aka Chatur Ramalingam of 3 Idiots shared the debut male honours with Jackky Bhagnani for Kal Kissne Dekha.

Veteran filmmaker J Om Prakash, maternal grandfather of Hrithik Roshan, and yesteryear siren Zeenat Aman were felicitated with the Lifetime Achievement award.

The 36-year-old Indian actress was treated to an exciting match in the Women's Final - as Francesca Schiavone beat Samantha Stosur in two sets to become the first Italian woman to claim a Grand Slam title.

Meanwhile, the tournament draws to an end tomorrow as Rafael Nadal will take on Robyn Soderling in the Men's Final.

'3 Idiots' that created history by becoming one of the most successful films in Hindi cinema walked away with 11 trophies at the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards that concluded in Colombo with a flourish early on June 6, being declared the Best Film, while the Best Director award went to Rajkumar Hirani and the Best Actress award to Kareena Kapoor for the same movie.

Kareena shared the award with Vidya Balan, who was honoured for perfectly portraying the role in 'Paa' of a single mother whose son is suffering from progeria.

Zeenat Aman was honoured for Outstanding Achievement in Indian Cinema at the IIFA Awards 2010 at Colombo, Sri Lanka on Saturday, 5th June 2010.

While Bollywood heart throb Salman Khan was given the Habitat for Humanity award, his not-so-good friend Vivek Oberoi, who has been in the news for all the wrong reasons ever since he arrived for the IIFA awards, was honoured with the Panasonic Global Green award.

Sanjay Dutt, Bollywood's affable Munnabhai, walked away with the Best Comic Actor trophy for his rib-tickling performance in 'All The Best'.


Sanjay Dutt, Bollywood's affable Munnabhai, walked away with the Best Comic Actor trophy for his rib-tickling performance in 'All The Best', while Boman Irani received the Best Actor in A Negative Role honour for his brilliant portrayal of an eccentric professor in '3 Idiots'.

Sharman Joshi, who played Aamir Khan's friend in '3 Idiots', won the Best Supporting Actor award, while Divya Dutta received Best Supporting Actress honour for her performance in 'Delhi 6'.

In the special award category, well-known Hindi filmmaker J. Omprakash and Bollywood superstar Hrithik Roshan's maternal grandfather, who made films like 'Aap Ki Kasam' (1974) , 'Aasha' (1980) and 'Aas Paas' (1981), was honoured for his outstanding contribution to cinema.

Versatile actor Anil Kapoor, who made his mark in the international arena with British filmmaker Danny Boyle's multiple award winning rags-to-riches drama 'Slumdog Millionaire', was honoured for outstanding achievement by an Indian in international cinema. And yesteryears glamour girl Zeenat Aman was honoured for Outstanding Achievement in Indian Cinema.

In the playback singing category, the Best Female Playback Singer award went to Kavita Seth for crooning 'Ik tara' in 'Wake Up Sid' and the Best Male Playback Singer Award went to Shaan for the hit number 'Behti hawa sa thaa wo' in '3 Idiots'.

It was Raajneeti all the way on the sets of Indian Idol 5. Katrina Kaif and Ranbir Kapoor, along with Arjun Rampal, were seen having a blast with the contestants and the jury.

The episode saw special performances by the top three contestants of last week. Antra Mitra, ex-Indian Idol 2 contestant and playback singer in Raajneeti along with Naushad, Indian Idol 5 contestant, entertained the special guests with their performance. One of the contestants, Shreeram, dedicated songs to Katrina and even went down on his knees to propose to her. But the one who stole Katrina’s heart was Shivam.

Arjun Rampal was at his hilarious best. His favourite performer for the evening was Shashi, who performed the song Rock On !!. At the mention of Naushad’s long hair, Arjun decided to teach the head banging technique to him as well as gave him some tips on how to be a rockstar. He then moved on to talk about his experience shooting the film and how he used to pull Katrina’s leg by calling her ‘Yellow Sauce to Tadka Daal’. To catch the excitement, tune in to the Raajneeti Special episode of Indian Idol 5 tonight at 9 and tomorrow at 9 on Sony Entertainment Television.
